Apple's iPad rules while Microsoft drools Apple will sell its newly unveiled tablet-style iPad starting at $499.

The iPad resembles an iPhone, but larger. Apple will sell some iPad models with data plans from AT&T, with no contract required.

Apple Inc. will have to convince consumers, many of whom already have Internet-connected phones, computers and TVs, that they'll want to pay that much for such a device, when many small, lightweight "netbooks" cost less than $400.

CEO Steve Jobs says the iPad will be better for reading books, playing games and watching video than either a laptop or a smart phone. The initial price is likely to drop. Apple sold the first iPhone for $599 but slashed the price to $399 after a few months, upsetting early buyers.

Really? Why is this so cool. It may seem interesting to have but, it is a total rip-off in my opinion. All it is, is a bigger itouch with a few new and different features.

I really like the ipad and I want one, but they are pretty expensive! If you like to read a lot then I think the ipad is a great tool for reading and having fun with apps,email, internet, etc. I wonder what apple will come out with next???

Microsoft is a very good company but I think that they do not control their company as well as Apple. Apple uses their technology good at sometimes and bad at others but they still get the job done with new products. Microsoft does not put much effort in my opinion.

I think that the Ipad is a laptop with an enlarged screen or an enlarged Ipod touch. I would rather pay $100 for a laptop than $500 for an Ipad. After reading other comments I think most feel the same. I don't hate Apple it is just I like Microsoft more. I think people are against Microsoft way more than they should be. I mean Microsoft was pretty far before Apple. Now I think they are just trying to improve work that is already done. I also think some Apple things are overpriced, that I know of there are no Macs that are under $1000. I have seen PC's that are $100. Many say the Ipad is very portable, I disagree because laptops you can take on planes, and I don't think you can with an Ipad. I am sorry Apple I just don't like your work.

I think that an Ipad is worth the wait, but it is not worth waiting for a Iphone because those cost more in the long run. The Ipad is better.

i don't get why this is so big . I think it is just a bigger i touch. the i pad is hevey and big so you cant easaly carrey it around.
