“It all happened in a heartbeat. Spiro clicked his fingers and every single customer in En Fin drew a weapon from his or her coat. The eighty-year old lady suddenly looked a lot more threatening with a revolver in her boney fist. Two armed waiters emerged from a kitchen wielding folding-stock machine guns. Butler never even had time to draw a breath.”
There is a device that has both fairy and human technology. It is referred to as the “C cube.” Certain people want to have it. One mastermind constructed it, Artemis Fowl.
Artemis Fowl is on a business trip in Knightsbridge, London with his bodyguard Butler. They are going to meet Jon Spiro at the En Fin Restaurant. Jon Spiro is a very successful businessman. Jon steals the C cube from Artemis during the meeting in the restaurant and leaves the meeting. Then, with one click of his fingers, suddenly everyone pulls out a hidden weapon. Artemis and Butler have only one chance, the Sonix grenade…a voice -activated grenade! Butler stalled to say the activation words to activate the grenade and everything in the entire restaurant was shattered. Luckily Butler protected Artemis from the explosion. But Artemis wasn’t safe yet!
A man was aiming his gun right at Artemis Fowl. As he pulled the trigger Butler jumped in front of Artemis taking the bullet. The bullet hit 6cm from his heart. The question is…will Butler live? Will Artemis get the C cube back? You’ll have to read the book to find out.
This book is amazing because it has both fairies and humans. It makes you aware of how the two worlds could interact. Mr. Colfer introduces the characters in the first book and kept me reading till the sixth. I plan on finishing this series.
If you like fantasy or action you might enjoy this series like I did. The book has an interesting plot and setting too. I liked all the weapons and magical characters with different powers! I almost couldn’t put it down. This book is awesome; I highly recommend it for all middle and elementary school students.
