BOMBERS START ON A ROLL

The Sayreville Middle School started the baseball season off on a roll. During the first game, Josh Guarnera started pitching and allowed minimal hits. Hitting was led by Chris Eveigan, Dan Rodriguez, and Peter Soporowski. The bombers lost their third game to South Plainfield. Pitching was Ryan Shereyka. He had no earned runs throughout the whole game. The bombers came back in the next game and lost to a tough South River team. The bombers were leading into the fourth when a Grand Slam was hit. The next game was against the POWER HOUSE South Brunswick Vikings. Josh Guarnera was on the mound and the bombers pulled out a 10-1 victory. Hitting was lead by Justin Gallagher and Brett Dazamba.
On May 9th the Bombers faced Monroe. In the first inning the bombers came out to a quick lead and congratulations were in order for Christopher Eveigan on his 40th career homerun. After a few more contributing hits by Ryan Shereyka, Bobby Gambardella, and Zack Alessi, the bombers came to a 9-1 victory. The next day the Bombers had an amazing game against South Plainfield. On May 23rd the Bombers had their final game of the 2011 season. This was the last time the 8th grade players would step on the field in a S.M.S uniform. In the first inning the Bombers jumped to a 3-0 lead. Franklin fought back and the game was tied until the 4th inning. The final score was 5-3. Hitting was led by Kyle Toth, Dan Rodriguez, and Devon Henriquez. Good luck to the 8th grade players who include: Chris Eveigan, Dan Rodriguez, Devon Henriquez, Connor Drabik, Josh Guarnera, Bobby Gambardella, Kyle Toth, Matt Dimsey, Nolan Rivera, and Ryan Shereyka. The players would also like to thank Coach Zolla for the best season in S.M.S history.
