Census targets tech-savvy Hispanic youth Groups pushing for robust Hispanic participation in the 2010 census announced a new campaign Thursday that aims to reach the hard-to-count group through its smart-phone-toting youngsters.

The "Be Counted, Represent" campaign offers music downloads and a chance at concert tickets to cell phone users who share their e-mail addresses and phone numbers with organizers and forward information about the census to their friends.

They hope those messages promoting participation in the count will zip throughout the social networks of youngsters who can persuade their parents to fill out and return their census forms.

The campaign offers a package of 25 music downloads curated for a young Hispanic audience to cell phone users who share their zip codes, e-mail addresses and cell phone numbers with the program's organizers. The downloads include songs by such artists as Pitbull, Mos Def and Morrissey.

Organizers said such measures are a way to get through to an ethnic group that has been hard for census officials to reach because of indifference, language barriers and — for some — deportation fears.

It wastes all this paper when everyone already knows that theyre doing this. Nobody cares, and i doubt anyones gonna participate.
Waste. Of. Life.Have you ever want to help your country to be better? Well when you get the 2010 census questions answer them and mail them back , it should take you about 10 minutes to answer them.

It is cool how they are targeting the Hispanic youth. But they shouldn't just target the Hispanics they should also target other raises. If they do that then they will have more people to fill the census forms. Also many people will have a big motivation to file them out.

I think this is a great idea, mostly because it is true that most Hispanics do not complete the census. This also encourages young Hispanics to tell their parents about the census and help them understand how to complete the census.

I believe this is a great idea. The census is very important to the United States and will help each and every one of us. If they find better ways to get people to fill out and return there census forms then they should impliment those ways. These techniques may seem irrational to som, but if they work then they should be used.

Using technology to get people to answer the census could be very effective but wouldn't work for everyone. They obviously are getting desperate so they will make up weird ideas so people will turn in their census.

The Census is good for small communities. Hispanic shouldn't be scared to return the Census in i did it nothing happened to use. Don't be afraid to do it alright.
