Chinese New Year

Second graders celebrated the Chinese New Year today. We learned that each of the 12 years of the Chinese Zodiac falls under a different animal sign. 2010 is the year of the Tiger. This year tells us that people born now will be forthright and sensitive. They also possess great courage.
Most of the second graders were born in the year of the Snake or Horse. Our teacher, Mr. Chris was born in the year of the Rat.
Part of our celebration involved trying new foods. We were able to try rice, egg rolls, sweet and sour sauce, and even a fortune cookie. We ate everything with chop sticks too.

What did you think of the celebration?
What was your favorite part?

I liked the food but eating with the chopsticks was horrible. I loved Mr. Chris' rice that he made. I also loved the fortune cookie and I liked the egg roll.
