Dancer with Bouquets, ca. 1895-1900: In this oil on canvas painting a prima ballerina takes a bow at the end of a performance. At her feet are bouquets of flowers tossed by an adoring audience. Standing before a painted landscape backdrop, she raises her hand as if to kiss the crowd before her. close

in french we are learning about painters who use impressionism. and their is this one painter who's name is "Edward Degas" and this man loves painting theater and people dancing and ballerinas. this painting looks like something he might paint.
The scene in this picture is extraordinary. Her position and facial expression is beautiful. She looks very soft and poised. She has almost a graceful look to her, like a dancer should. This artist had a goal, and has fulfilled it well! The calm picture has a sensibility to it, I love it.
I chose to create this piece because I am a dancer myself, and I am used to having flowers after my performance. I chose to use the art of pointe dancing to illustrate the emotion and feeling of this dance. Pointe is a graceful dance and this picture shows it. It captures the element of emotion and the nature in the background ties in the rest of the world.
If I was a docent at the Chrysler Museum of Art, I would love to show this paint to the 4th graders. This painting is like art in art. Dancing is a type of art and a painting is definatly art. The lady in the painting is beautiful standing on the stage and she must be a very good dancer because she has flowers at her feet. I think the little kids would be very amazed with this painting.
The background of the water and mountains really brings out the dancer. The flowers in the painting show that the dancer must have just been performing infront of an audience. The way she is positioned really shows her being a dancer with her stance. It looks like she is about to begin dancing with the bouquet.
This oil canvas is really original. The colors are very expressive. This painting is classic with the dancer and the flowers. Also the audience kiss just brings the whole painting together.
