Ellis Island, 1905: Lewis Hine spent the majority of his life photographing America’s social issues: immigration, child labor, and the plight of the working man. His photographs of immigrants at Ellis Island treated the new, often degraded, citizens with grace, photographing his subjects in more formal poses instead of the “huddled masses” that appeared in other works.

i think tkis is totally awesome. i want her to make me one. i bet she smelled like mint. lol... this one of a kind dress is beautiful. :)
I didn't get it. Why would some dude be taking pictures of people when the pictures were taken in 1905, still if it does show history. Truth is, it isn't that sane if you ask me.
That is a really good close-up. I LOVE black and white photos. The girl in this photo looks depressed. I only hope I can capture images like that when I'm a photography (when I'm older of course).
I like this picture, we learned about Ellis Island in class, and how it was a dangerous journey that so many immigrants went on to find freedom in the United States. It makes me very thankful for being born in a country with freedom and choices.
I like the picture a lot because it is old. I think that the time period this picture was painted in was cool. I just think the whole style of painting is awesome. This picture has interesting me because I have always wondered why women in the late 1800's and early1900's always wore dresses like this lady.
I love seeing photo's from the 1990's or 1905 because u get to see things that people had, and what they dressed like. I also love taking pictures of random things like my dog the ocean and so on.
