Name that fish!

Name that fish!

Have you ever seen Disney’s 2003 hit film “Finding Nemo?” If so, you probably recall the unique deep-sea angler fish with a light attached to its head that Nemo and Dory run into. Believe it or not, a type of angler fish named a goosefish (or monkfish) is native to Nantucket waters, and one is currently a resident of the Maria Mitchell Aquarium on Washington Street. One of MMA’s most fascinating and talked-about creatures, the goosefish needs a name.

A naming contest will run from now until the end of the summer, when Maria Mitchell interns and staff will decide upon the best-fitting name for the goosefish. Stop by the Aquarium, and the naming is up to you. A prize will be awarded to the creator of his new name.

The Maria Mitchell Aquarium is located at 28 Washington St. and is open Monday-Saturday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Admission is free for Maria Mitchell Association members, $6 adult/$5 child non-members.

Oh my gosh, the fish looks so interesting. It looks like a shark combined with white powered on its body. Many fish that you never heard or seen of could be weird.

Wow that fish looks kind of weard looking and it is white it doesn't look like an ordinary fish it looks like a drawing that some cretive artist drew.

I new that fishes name when i saw the movie. I wonder if it sleeps in the dark.I want to go to that Aquarium. I wonder where they made up the name goosefish. I hope to see it one day.
