Obama discusses his tween's study skills
President Barack Obama is making the need for parent involvement personal, citing his own tween-aged daughter's classroom challenges.
During a speech about his administration's education priorities, he talked about his sixth-grade daughter, Malia, and her study skills. He told a middle school in Wisconsin that Malia came home with a 73 percent on a science test and was disappointed.
The president said he asked her what went wrong. Malia explained that the test didn't match the study guide. "So, what's your idea here?" Obama remembered telling her. Malia told her father she had better start reading the whole chapters. Obama then shared happier news that came this week: Malia came home with high-fives and a 95 percent.

i like to study all the time i would like to know how he keeps them going to school and keep them study all the time it is hard for me sometimes to study in all the time i get tirde sometimes i can't study all the time
If I was Obama's daughter, I wouldn't want him announcing my poor grade to anyone who could be listening. Even though his daughter Malia got a bad grade, she listened and brought it up, but I don't think he should have been so hard on his daughter. Studying and working harder to do better is obviously the right choice, and she demonstrated a good example.
Obama has a point. Children are really not studying as much and getting lower grades. But kids need to improve their study skills because that's what makes them learn more and so they can get higher scores on tests. If kids don't learn more or learn anything, then America's future will be RUINED. I think the whole point of school is to teach kids stuff so they can use it to make a better future. And then you will be stuck working at McDonald's at minimum wage. That doesn't really help the future, does it? I still can't believe that the president's daughter got a seventy five.
If my dad told my grade to the United States of America i would be so mad at him for telling my grade to everyone.
Wow, I would be pretty embarrassed if my dad announced my bad grades to the United States of America! I'm having a science test next week, so I might try that for when I study.
Wow, and I thought presidents' kids were always smart and nerdy. I bet it would be a bit embarrassing to get bad grades and have you dad announce it to the entire world. Also, it's sort of unbelievable that just because reading whole chapters made your test grades go more than 20% up. If that method worked, then everybody reading this article would always get good grades, which is NOT true. Well, even though, I guess everybody makes mistakes and nobody's perfect.
