Preparing for the Matinee; Edmund Charles Tarbell: This painting is called "Preparing for the Matinee," by the American artist Edmund Charles Tarbell. Our young woman is getting all dressed up to go out to a show...a matinee, which means some sort of a performance that happens in the daytime. Since this picture was painted in 1907, she's probably going to go to a play or a band concert.

The painting is very good. Good color and pastels that pop out at you. I would love to see this painting in real life sometime.
This painting is very good better than me and most people this portrait is very well detailed and painted with colors that fit this particular piece of art. I like this painting because when you paint you can show feelings you cant express out loud and sometimes people get your feelings when they see your work of art. This painting is really good but its not really a one of a kind many people have done things like this painting but other than that I love this portrait.
Wow! I can’t even draw or paint this good. Don’t get me wrong Im good trust me I’m good just not as good as this. If I wanted to get this good ( Which I do) I wood take a years worth of at class and I would have fun.
Think this painting is good, but not as good as Mary Cassatt's' paintings. She has dark coolors and show from with in and this painting doesn't have that. I'm not saying that Edmund Charles Tarbell has to paint like Cassatt but show from within.
