Sonic boom frightens residents
Officials with the Madison County Sheriff’s Office said they received numerous calls Thursday from residents saying they’d heard a loud explosion. The majority of calls came from residents in Toney, Hazel Green and Meridianville, according to Investigator Chad Brooks. An investigation by Madison County Emergency Management Agency officials determined that aircraft tests performed at Arnold Air Force base in Tullahoma, Tenn., broke the sound barrier and caused a sonic boom.
Officials at the base told EMA workers they had alerted area media outlets of the tests but apparently the boom reached farther than expected.
The Madison Sheriff’s Office requested media outlets report the boom to calm fears of an explosion.

Gosh I know that feeling because whenever I visit my grandpa ( he lives in near an base camp or whatever it's called because he used to be in the army.) Well, anyway whenever I go there there are always at least one or two plane flying really close overhead. THEY ARE SO LOUD!!!! I get to his house and the first thing I see is a gigantic plane flying over his house making noise and smoke! IT IS SO ANNOYING!!!!!
I wonder if it had a shock wave. One time we had a fire work go of and it left a hole in the ground. I even saw the shock wave. Airplane are cool. The first time I went on a plane i got a certificate and I even got to see the cockpit.
Man I know that feeling my uncle lives in a area where jets and plans fly and do training. It gets aggravating they fly kind of low sometimes and the sonic boom is super loud it kills your ears.
