Surgar

Sugar

Mr. Hilker’s advanced animal science students are going to participate in an experiment to see how the reproductive system works. They choose to use a pig because humans can relate to pigs. The pig is a girl and its name is Sugar. It is currently living in the school’s greenhouse.

The experiment started on October 8, 2009. She had her babies on January 30th, 2010. She had 15 piglets, lost 4 piglets. Four of those died right after birth, and she has a dead baby still in her.

The mama pig tries to eat her babies after they are born. This is because of a hormone problem. She has to be watched for the first two days after they are born.

The student in the animal science class will name the piglets and Sugar will stay with the babies for three weeks. The class learned many things on how the reproductive system works. When they are done with the experiment, some of the pigs will be sold, and some will be shown at the state fair.

This article told about Mr. Hilker's science class studying the reproductive system and since pigs are a lot like humans they are going to use a pig. They stared on October 8, 2009 Sugar the pig had 15 piglets, lost 4 piglets, and has one dead piglet in side her yet. Some of the pigs will be sold and some will be taken to state fair.

I think this is a really good project because it can actually show people how reproductive system works in real life.

Cool pigs. That is an awsome experiment. I wish it was my experiment. That is so cool. That is close school to us. COOL!!! Fun FUN FUN.
