Valdosta City School system unveiling new Web site Monday
VALDOSTA — The Valdosta City School System will unveil its new Web site on Monday. The new site will provide the same information and more to parents, students, staff and the community.
The old Web site was outdated, said Jennifer Steedley, director of public relations.
Looking at other school system Web sites, Steedley said, it became apparent that the VCS Web site provided contact information but not enough general information.
“There was not enough information about what departments, especially in the central office, do,” Steedley said.
Society has become a technologically driven entity and the majority of people turn to the Internet rather than picking up a phone to gather information, she said.
The Web site will have information about the central office, athletics, schools, board members as well as videos about the school system and the International Baccalaureate program.
In the future the system will begin to revamp and update the school Web sites as well, she said.
Steedley and public relations intern Anne Kathryn Stone have spent the majority of the summer interviewing people in different departments to put more information on the Web site.
The new web site can be viewed on Monday at www.gocats.org.
