Woman's life better after breaking long nails
A Salt Lake City woman who held a Guinness World Record for her long fingernails before they broke off in a car crash says it was the most dramatic event of her life. But Lee Redmond, who lost the fingernails in February, says it's now much easier to do things and her hands seem to fly with the weight of the nails gone.
The 68-year-old won't grow her nails out again, saying it took 30 years the first time and she may not live for another 30.
Redmond hadn't cut her nails since 1979 and entered the Guinness World Records book in 2002 for longest fingernails on a woman. The Guinness Web site says her nails measured a total of more than 28 feet long in 2008, with the longest nail on her right thumb at 2 feet, 11 inches.

EWWWWWW!!! That's just soooo creepy because it's cool and gross at the same time!! It's cool because she has a record for her nails and it's gross because they're sooo long and weird looking!! But it's good that she is able to do things much easier!!
OH MY GOODNESS! I DONT THINK IN MY ENTIRE LIFE I COULD HAVE GROWN MY NAILS TO EVEN 3 INCHES, AND THIS LADY HAD ONE OF HER FINGER NAIL AT 2 FEET 11 INCHES! THATS CRAZY! HOW DID SHE GET AROUND IN A CAR?PUT ON SHOES? PUT A BAG ON HER SHOULDER? CARRY THINGS? PUT ON CLOTHES WITH THOSE LONNNNNGGGG FINGER NAILS. WELL WE NOW NOW THAT IT WAS FOR THE BETTER THAT HE NAILS BROKE OFF EVEN THOUGH SHE WONT HAVE THE PRIVILEGE OF BEING IN ANOTHER WORLD RECORD BOOK. BUT WHO CARES SHE CAN DO MORE STUFF NOW. I'M GLAD AND SAD FOR HER AT THE SAME TIME:)
NO! At Mary Orr, there was a teacher who ran the AC and she had those same long nails, but at least 2 inches shorter! I'm completely serious!!! The long nails have come to haunt us again!
Ohh my gosh that must suck.. using almost half your life of long nails and boom! All gone.. but ow! How bad would that have hurt? Did she like lose her whole nail or just part? Confusing but sad.
i think its good that her nails broke off now she can do more things. she will always have a record well until someone else breaks the record.
OMG, those are the biggest nails ever. I don't even think they're real. I think she looks like a witch. I would have hated to be her at the time she had her humongous nails. ):
