Hot chili can stop you cold
The Indian military has a new weapon against terrorism: the world's hottest chili. It is 5,000 times hotter than a jalapeno pepper.
After conducting tests, the military has decided to use the thumb-sized "bhut jolokia," or "ghost chili," to make tear gas-like hand grenades to immobilize suspects, defense officials said Tuesday.
The bhut jolokia was accepted by Guinness World Records in 2007 as the world's spiciest chili. It is grown and eaten in India's northeast for its taste, as a cure for stomach troubles and a way to fight the crippling summer heat.
"The chili grenade has been found fit for use after trials in Indian defense laboratories, a fact confirmed by scientists at the Defense Research and Development Organization," Col. R. Kalia, a defense spokesman in the northeastern state of Assam, told The Associated Press.
"This is definitely going to be an effective nontoxic weapon because its pungent smell can choke terrorists and force them out of their hide-outs," R. B. Srivastava, the director of the Life Sciences Department at the New Delhi headquarters of the DRDO said.
Srivastava, who led a defense research laboratory in Assam, said trials are also on to produce bhut jolokia-based aerosol sprays to be used by police to control and disperse crowds.

That's awesome! Yet horribly cruel. How could you choke somebody to death with hot chili pepper gas? But people eat it? How does it not kill them by SWALLOWING it, but kills them with inhaling it?! That's not right..! And how does such a spicy hot pepper HELP stomach issues?!?!??!? Shouldnt it make it worse by irritating your stomach?! People are finding the weirdest ways to torture others.. And is is just me, or did they *accidentally* write that it is a NONTOXIC weapon?!
This is one spicy, hot pepper.I wonder if they will sell it publicly and turn it into pepper spray because it would come in handy for the army.I think it is cool because they can use these weapons on terrorist without killing them. All I can say is don't bring those peppers and grenades to America.
That is one spicy pepper! My concern with this is that they might use this on the wrong human being, or the suspect might have a baby in his arms. Where do they get the name, "ghost pepper"? What kinds of tests could you conduct on a, "ghost pepper"? If I can barely handle a yellow pepper, i don't think i could handle the ghost pepper.
This is just not called for.Why would they use the worlds hottest chili as a punishment.I get that they would be mad but it is not fair for them to suffer so much, but that's just my opinion.
Your choice:This article is about the hottest chili. I think this is a good idea using food as a weapon for military. I actually had one of these peppers before only half of it, it was really hot it took like one hour for the hotness to go away and especially i rubbed my eyes and some of the chili got in my eye.
I think that this pepper being used to help the summer heat is crazy. It does sound like a really effective pepper spray though. But if its smell chokes you, how can they eat it? I think that some colleges and high schools in the US should study the peppers to see how they could be used here.
This chili looks like it will bust you up. But this is a good thing for a little smoke grenade that are nontoxic. This would be a good use to people trying to get them out of there hideout so they just pop it in and it's good. I think this is a good idea either way they use it I think it's a good idea.
I have never tried it, but i think it sounds very good! I love spicy foods, and that would be amazing if it could cure stomach pains and colds.
My parents are from India and they both can cook up some exotic, indian foods. I eat very spicy foods almost everyday and it really helps me recover from colds. Sure, being an Indian American makes me used to cheeseburgers and pizza too, but it's so BLAND compared to the spices cooked up in my home! Alot of people here in America should taste Indian spices. It's really a treat if you can handle the heat!
Man that's one hot pepper but using water to cool it down won't cool it down it'll just make feel hotter but milk would fix your problem if you don't have any well good luck.
