Plentiful pollen is wicked bad
Pollen: It's on your car, in the air and especially in your sinuses.
From Florida to Texas to Colorado, 2010 is shaping up to be a monster of an allergy season. The words "pollen" and "allergy" are among the top 10 trending topics on Twitter in several U.S. cities. Everywhere, it seems, is covered in a fine yellow dust that irritates our lives. Experts say it's the worst they've seen in years in many areas.
"It's wicked bad this year," said Dr. Mona Mangat, an allergy specialist in St. Petersburg, Fla., who can't recall a worse year in the six she's worked there.
This year is especially bad in the Southeast, weather experts say, likely due to winter's unseasonably cold weather.
It's enough to bring some to tears. Take 5-year-old Sam Wilson of St. Petersburg. His mom gives him Claritin in the morning, Nasonex and Benadryl at night, and he receives four allergy shots every week. The sidewalks of his hometown are covered in what look like piles of dried, brown worms — but they are mounds of oak tree pollen.
His mother said that when the pollen is at its worst, the boy's eyes water and itch, he can't breathe through his nose and his throat burns.
Oak trees are the culprit in many places in the Southeast.
The trees produce 3,000 to 6,000 pollen particles per cubic meter; it only takes 10 particles to trigger an allergic reaction.
Angel Waldron, a spokeswoman for the Washington, D.C.-based Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, said that allergy seasons have been getting longer over the years, with six to eight weeks of suffering expected this year in some areas.
Waldron's group compiles a list each year of most challenging places to live for allergy and asthma sufferers. Topping the list: Knoxville, Tenn., followed by Louisville, Ky.; Chattanooga, Tenn.; Dayton, Ohio; and Charlotte, N.C.

I agree that pollen is bad. I fell bad for all the people that have asthma and that are highly allergic to pollen. I hope they make a way to make the pollen stop spreading over the world. Who ever is thinking to stop pollen from spreading keep on thinking.
im wayy allergic to pollen like really really bad but thats bad i know ho they feel i hate havin allergies ..... plus i get sick for like two weeks so yea..../
ok how is pollen wicked bad for ??? pollen is awesomely kewl... but i can see from what there coming from it makes u snezze tee hee =-P
I'm glad I live in Oregon and not one of those places. I get allergies really bad, take prescription strength medicine and still have to take several Benadryl a day with no relief. For me the worst part is a spider bite I got once, now it swells and turns purple, itchy, and VERY painful and I have allergic reactions a lot more. -Christina Rishel
Oh man, pollen is here The eyse are itchy and it probably hurts. He can't walk outside and play with his friends.
man i wouldnt want to be around that area i would sneeze youd probably get it in your mouth and eyes and probably might get sick for a will.
That is so bad if it gets in New Jersey it could effect us all.Because it is in Florida to Texas to Colorado and and it could get in our drinks we don't want that now do we.
I agree that too much pollen is bad because like it talks about people have allergies. My sister has mega allergies to pollen and she sneezes like crazy and it looks like shes making more pollen.Me I don't have allergies to it but for some reason it does make me sneeze Ah-choo.
Did you know that trees produce 3,000 to 6,000 pollen particles per cubic meter? I think that this year the pollen was really bad; I couldn't stop sneezing! In the spring the pollen was every where , on top of cars, on the side walks and in driveways. I sometimes react to lots of pollen, this year has had the highest amount of pollen in years. "Five-year-old Sam Wilson of St. Petersburg takes Claritin in the morning, Nasonex and Benadryl at night, and he receives four allergy shots every week." sometimes too much pollen makes eyes water and itch.Oak trees are the worst when it comes to allergy season. I think these conditions are bad for everyone even if you don't have a reaction to pollen. In conclusion, I am glad that pollen season is over!!
Oh my Gosh! That is a lot of pollen. If that happened in Wisconsin, my brother would be in HUGE trouble because he uses inhalers and he doesn't always remember to do all of his puffs. My mother would never let us go outside until the pollen clears up.
