Teen makes prom dress out of gum wrappers
An Iowa teen is all bubbly over her one-of-a-kind high school prom dress she made out of gum wrappers. Elizabeth Rasmuson made her dress — and matching vest for her date — out of blue and white wrappers from Wrigley's "5 gum."
The high school junior says she got the idea after hearing about someone making a dress out of duct tape.
She and her boyfriend began collecting gum wrappers last August. Rasmuson says she quit counting after 200.
Since the wrappers break easily, Rasmuson finished her dress with a vinyl top coat.

I love this dress! I would wear it on my date. Wow that's just crazy! It looks like he is not too happy about that either. It saves money though. Well i would say that you showed your colors !
That is so awesome! I wish i had the time and patience to do that! But i don't chew that much gum to collect 200+ gum wrappers! This blew my mind.
i really love that dress and i would pay a lot of money to have that dress in my arms i really love that dress and the outfit that guy has on i love it
that is so cool. i dont know how you could make a dress out of gum wrapper. that looks like it is very difficul
Making a prom dress out of gum wrappers is very different and creative. With prom dress costing hundreds of dollars these days I believe that is very economical yet stylish. Many girls in high school should consider making home made dresses to wear instead of spending loads of money. This would make them look much more creative then someone that just bought a dress.
That is so weird but also a good way to save money i wonder if it took a long time to make it i would like to make a dress out of bubble gum wrappers or something
That seems really weird...wouldn't it be uncomfortable? But it seems like a good way to save money. I'm definitely not that creative! But it's a really cool idea and the fact that she made a matching vest makes it that much better!!
This is so cool! Ive always been the one who cant wait to wear the classic prom dress but what she did was completely out of the box. I cant even imagine how much gum it took or cost but the idea is one of a kind. She definitely foes not need to worry about someone having the same dress as her. The want to be different and extraordinary is always something to strive for and making a unique dress like this for prom is definitely something you could do. I admire the precision and time she most likely put towards making this dress. Not many people can say they were a bubblegum wrapper dress to their prom and that is a memory that money and a fancy dress cant buy.
That is so cool making a dress out of gum wrappers. i know a girl that made a dress out of duct tape. I think that it was nice of her to make a matching vest to her date for the prom. she should be proud of her self.
WOW!! that's so awesome. i would love to see a dress made of gum wrappers. i already know someone who made a dress out out duct tape and i looked really cool.
