Brave mum shaves her head for good reason

A brave mum of two has had her shoulder length brown hair completely shaved off for charity. Nikita Macleod returned home to daughters Kaci-Lee, three, and Laura, two, from work last night totally bald. The 22-year-old from Lawrence Weston took the plunge to raise more than £500 for the BBC Children in Need appeal.

Nikita, who works at the Co-operative in Crow Lane, Henbury, said: "Being bald doesn't phase me at all, although it will be a bit cold for a while. The way I look at it is that it will grow back eventually and it's worthwhile because it's for such a great cause.

"My colleagues all think I'm mad but I have always been a supporter of Children in Need and raised money one year by singing in the middle of my college."

Deputy store manager Aimee Shepherd said: "We can't believe how brave and selfless Nikita was. Her hair was way past her shoulders, so to go from that to being completely bald was a really courageous step."

That was very selfless of her however why don't whoever donated the actual money just be nice and give it to the charity rather than have her shave your hair off? That's a good deed. You could also do something something less permanent. I know that this isn't permanent but but it lasts awhile. That was vey nice of her and I really respect this woman.

I would NEVER shave my hair off!!!!!!! She must have worn a hat for a long time. I wonder what her children thought when she came home?! How would shaving her hair off help charity? It must take years to grow her hair back to shoulder length again!

i don't blame her for cutting her hair it's for a very good reason every ones DIFFERENT & has their own opinion because i wouldn't shave ALL my hair i would give it maybe a short style but not completely off .

OH MY GOSH she is so sweet. I think I would never have guts to shave off all my hair. But it's good to know that she cares more about others than herself. She is right hair will always grow back. :)

oh my god i could never ever ever ever ever do that i just measured my hair and it is 34 & a half inches
long if you cant picture that i am five foot two inches and its past my bottom and i cant even visualize it having more than a trim! She was so brave and i just think that is a wonderful thing to do i dont think i could ever do it unless it was a matter of life and death!

Yes don't shave it off! Your lucky to have long hair so keep it. Many people can't grow their hair out. You are really lucky.

all i have to say is that man that is for a good reason but for a girl to cut all of her hair of is realy weird and for a boy that is okay but it is for a good cause so that is okay.

O.M.G!!!! SHAVING YOUR HAIR. I would never do such a thing if you shave your hair for Charity it is a good thing for them but not a good idea for you I mean in the inside you feel you are doing the right thing for your self but in the out side AAAAHHHHHH. not a good idea.

I would like to start by saying how Nikita is amazing. Most people will only donated at least 9 inches of their hair, but she donated the whole thing! I myself don't think I would have the courage to go completely bald, even if it was for an outstanding and heart-warming cause. She should really feel good about what shes done because now some child in need will have hair that can hopefully raise their confidence about themselves, or show them that their are people out in the world who really do care about others. Obviously the purpose of this article is to inform us about how people around the world are doing simple actions that can be very impacting. Two literary terms: 1st Person Point of View~ was told by a reporter who was at the event & later Nikita was interviewed with her own thoughts and feelings about the event

Thats CRAZY! Who would want to chop of all that woundeful hair! They should not let anymore people do that! Hair is beautful and covers your head to keep you warm (well really only the top of your head) I would never ever ever never ever never never ever ever do anything like that in all of my life even if my life really needed it cut of to live! I love my brown lush hair!
